The Assisted Goals Foundation will celebrate the grand opening of its new used hockey equipment storefront at 828 Merchant Street in Ambridge on Saturday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, October 18th from noon to 3 p.m.
The storefront will offer used hockey equipment at deeply discounted prices, with sizes ranging from youth through adult. Available equipment includes skates, shin guards, elbow pads, hockey pants, shoulder pads, gloves, jerseys, socks, sticks, equipment bags, select goalie equipment and miscellaneous hockey-related items.
Prices are designed to make hockey equipment more accessible to families. Examples include skates for $25, hockey pants for $20, shin guards and shoulder pads for $15, gloves for $10 and sticks for $5. Apparel will also be available at two items for $5.
Donations of new and gently used hockey equipment will also be accepted at the storefront during store hours. Donated equipment will help keep the storefront stocked and provide more affordable equipment options for hockey players and families.
The store creates a two-fold opportunity to support the hockey community. Families can purchase the equipment they need at affordable prices while proceeds from the sales will help fund Assisted Goals Foundation scholarships, which are awarded annually to players and families who need financial assistance to continue participating in hockey.
The Assisted Goals Foundation hopes to open the storefront approximately once a month, giving families an ongoing resource for affordable hockey equipment while creating another way to support its scholarship program. The store will be monitored by board members and volunteers.
The storefront location was donated by Play It Again Sports in Cranberry for Assisted Goals Foundation’s use. The equipment program has also been made possible through the support of community partners and sponsors, including Play It Again Sports in Cranberry and 93.7 The Fan.
